Parabola's Spring 1990 issue:
Time & Presence
We try to abolish time because our relation with it has become simply one of fear. It is chasing us to destroy us, we seem to think; we must run, evade the pursuer; we must stay young, we must not allow old age to have any real place in our society, and we must not wait for anything but take quickly what we can get before it is too late. But if time is truly a dimension of human life and experience, what is it we are trying to abolish? What dimension of our humanity will disappear with it? What is already disappearing? --from the editorial Focus
