Summary
Parabola's Spring 1999 issue:
Nature
To observe nature with attention is to discover new worlds of meaning. Look out on a meadow, and as you look, a hodgepodge of shapes and colors becomes winterkill, bare scrub oak, and sumac over a bed of snow. "Nature loves to hide," Heraclitus said in the sixth century. Much is hidden from us by our unschooled way of looking. Only a steady attentiveness lets things emerge from the nondescript mask that they wear by habit; only this special state of being lets us appreciate things as they really are. --from the editorial Focus
